Grant Writing for Nonprofits 101 introduces students to grant writing AND helps them put a grant out the door! If you've been thinking about writing a grant for your favorite nonprofit, but just don't know how --- this is the class for you. Each student writes a grant to submit to a private foundation under the leadership of our expert grant professional. This is not just learning about grant writing --- this is about writing a grant and getting it out the door.

This course will be offered again in Spring 2012.

  • Week 1 - Key Elements for Grant Writing
  • Week 2 - Now It's Your Turn to Start Writing!
  • Week 3 - Creating Your Budget!
  • Week 4 - Complete and Send Your Grant to Kitty Wojcik to Review!
  • Week 5 - Researching Funders & Submitting Your Grant to Them!

This 5 week online course is a practicum in proposal writing that wins charitable funds in the form of grants into institutions or agencies. The course requires significant reading and writing skills. Each student will learn to discuss their nonprofit project on paper so that grant makers can "see" the nonprofit through the grant application.

Grant Writing 101 has interactive discussion forums where the class and instructor meet to share, ask questions, and make friends. During Class 4 each student may sign up for consultation time with the instructor via conference call to obtain customized advice about their nonprofits funding efforts.

Here's what others say about Kitty Wojcik:

Dear Kitty: I can barely find the appropriate words to THANK YOU for the grant work you did for me. In my over-two-decades in research I have had the pleasure of working with many editors and reviewers. You are truly exceptional and all your work to prepare my National Institute of Health grant was greatly appreciated. Salaam, shalom, peace, paz!

Kitty was absolutely fabulous. She was able to bring the directors program activities and thoughts together and put them into writing beautifully. She obviously knows her stuff. I can’t say enough how well she was able to make sense out of everything we do to explain it in the grant. She helped us uncover much of what we already do; but didn’t have the right words to explain it. I am thrilled.
