Dr. Keisuke Noda is an Unificationist philosopher, whose professional interests encompass diverse subjects including phenomenology, existentialism, and various Far Eastern Thoughts.

With Unificationism as the thread that links all of these different areas, Dr. Noda takes on the challenge of fusing philosophy into different cultural contexts.  His attempt at merging philosophy with literature, the conceptual with the imagery, and the cogitative with the aesthetic, culminated in his two volume philosophical novel A History of Philosophy as Narrative (2004).  With this work, he created and coined a new genre called “meta-fantasy” indicating metaphysics described in the form of a fantasy.

Inheriting Rev. Moon’s lifelong passion and vision for the ocean, Dr. Noda is now trying to construct a philosophy based on man’s experiences with the ocean, which he expects to lead to the deconstruction of philosophy and the emergence of a new mode of thought interlaced by a balanced method of feeling, willing, and thinking.  As an initial step for this pioneering work, he created the course “Ocean Ministry,” which is a course based on experiential education.

A prolific writer, contributor of philosophy articles to various journals and international conferences, Dr. Noda is also the philosophy editor of the forthcoming New World Encyclopedia.  Dr. Noda joined the faculty in 1996 and also serves as the library director.
