On Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007 a group of volunteers celebrated the Autumn Equinox by donning gardening gloves and working on several "beautification" projects in the Peace Garden. Over 100 bulbs were planted around the Chartres labyrinth, three dead trees were felled, many, many weeds were uprooted, and a new rock sculpture was created (see photo). Everyone shared a delicious BBQ picnic after their hard work. In the evening the labyrinth was candlelit and people participated in the meditative walk, connecting with the rhythms of the earth and the new autumn season.
