UTS student Anastasia Dragan has been accepted as an intern at the World Council of Churches (WCC) Geneva offices from February of this year through January of 2011. Anastasia will undertake several modules of ecumenical learning in one of five WCC working areas. The five areas are: the International Ecumenical Peace Convocation, youth and ecumenical formation, visitors program and media relations, mission and evangelism, and ecology and social justice. She will work with program staff with individualized supervision.
Anastasia is a Lutheran whose ecumenical ministry in Moldova brought her into contact with Rev. Ron Koonce, a Unificationist from America working in Moldova. Through Rev. Koonce's friendship with Anastasia and her father, who is a Lutheran Church leader in Eastern Europe, Anastasia was able to take advantage of the UTS Interfaith Program, into which she matriculated in the Fall of 2008.
One outcome of Anastasia's internship will be to plan an ecumenical project to implement in her home context of Moldova.
