Located in the heart of Manhattan, the New York City Extension Center is a commuter-based campus with an ecumenically rich and culturally diverse student body and faculty.
Representing Lutheran, Catholic, Evangelical, Baptist, Methodist, African Methodist Episcopal and a host of other denominational backgrounds, many of the students already have pastorates and are seeking their academic credentials. Others are exploring the possibility of a new career in the ministry. The faculty provides a rich experience for our students as they are actively engaged in ministries and pastorates of their own. In addition, the Extension Center offers exciting and enriching field educational opportunities in the international, interfaith, and social ministry arenas.
To accommodate the working and ministerial schedules of our students, classes are offered in the afternoons, evenings, on Saturdays and in weekend intensives on alternate weekends. The library facility is open all day to students who wish to come in for further study and research. Special programs are scheduled either before classes begin in the evenings or on Saturdays.
From the 2009-2010 academic year, students are able to access courses for all three of the Masters programs offered by UTS from the Extension Center. However, because students at the Extension Center may not fulfill all of their course requirements from that location, they will be required to take their graduating course requirement from the main campus in Barrytown. This will serve to expand services to its students in the metro New York area, with greater staff support, Field Education opportunities, faculty presence, a larger library, Information Commons, enhanced student lounge, a larger and more diverse student enrollment and a wider variety of program offerings. |
